Abstract

This research aims to examine the correlation of family ownership to firm performance. Family company is the company that has the dominance of 95% according to the PWC survey. The observation consists of non-financial companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2011–2015. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Family ownership are negatively and significantly related to firm performance; (2) Family in the management are positively and significantly related to firm performance; (3) Founder in the management are positively and significantly related to firm performance. The results of two-sample mean test also found that family firm perform worse than non-family firm.
