Abstract
With the increasing economy growth both global and regional, led to the demand for energy also increasing, and as in predicting that up to 25 years forward, the fossil energy sources is still the main source of the world. But with the broader effect of greenhouse gases and its dwindling reserves of fossil energy, demands of the business world to find solutions to a more efficient energy sources and cleaner. With this basis we argue that developing of upgrading coal business is one of the alternative business development energy are more favorable survival (sustainability) both business and the environment. In a deeper analysis on macro economic factors affecting the energy industry and coal in particular, confirm the reason for the business development of coal upgrading it, because there are business opportunities with huge potential to be developed in a way to overcome the challenges that exist. This was also confirmed by the analysis of the porter who concluded that upgrading coal business has a moderate level of competition. A model business plan Coal Upgrading shows that our company's target market is South Korea, with only specification producing quality coal in the range of 5400 Kcal / kg (GAR). With this parameter generic strategic plan that we chose is Cost Focus, with a target value proposition is to provide quality products with appropriate coal-friendly environment with a relatively low price compared to conventional coal companies. Cost advantage can be achieved from the raw material cost component in which our company can get the raw material costs lower than conventional coal companies. The Company assumes that business growth will be obtained by replicating similar processing plant after 5 years. This is because the company does business learning time and improve potential capital. Steps are being taken to secure the cost focus strategy is span the 'hierarchy in every line of the company's strategy, among others, on-line financial obtain financing alternatives to meet the initial investment is quite large, on-line operation increases the company's ability to obtain sources of low grade coal and refinement upgrading process, the lines sharpen your marketing key account management activity for securing key customers, on-line human resource ensures simple organizational culture with increased discipline and obedience for the sake of achieving cost efficiency in operations. With an initial investment of IDR 90 billion, the processing plant will be built in the district of Berau, East Kalimantan. The source of funding comes from bank loans, equity and strategic partner with the cost of equity at the 12.27%.
