Abstract
The Colony is a creative agency firm which was established to address marketing communications issues by providing quality end-to-end creative solutions at a competitive price. End-to-end creative solutions includes services ranging from design foundation (platform design, design strategy, design development and design documents) to implementation (visual, verbal, products for corporate and product brands, environment and interior) based on The Colony‘s unique methodology which will deliver customized solutions for each client along with the support of The Colony‘s owned online project management system. To produce creative solutions that fit the client's needs, The Colony will form collaboration with creative workers (freelancers) from various educational backgrounds and experience (i.e. design, architecture, communications, IT, multimedia and journalism) with a diverse portfolio. The Colony believes that most freelance creative workers in Jakarta are lacking the professionalism and sufficient knowledge of business processes. The weak bargaining power of freelance creative workers compared to the creative talent of a commercial creative company is the result of this problem. In order to fully realize the potential of such freelance creative workers, The Colony will bring them as partners to work on a creative project solutions. By joining The Colony, freelance creative workers‘ bargaining power will increase and they will have the opportunity to fully develop their potential. The Colony also notices that there are a lot of opportunities in the market with design agencies, advertising, as well as consultants. It is based on the total value of purchase for the service and product marketing communications per year 2013 reached Rp 70.000.000.000.000, and the spending is increasing by 20% of average growth annually. Industries which are active players for marketing communications becomes prime targets for The Colony, among them are: FMCG, Retail, Banking, Telecommunications and Travel / Hospitality. The Colony's capital structure is derived from capital contributions by its founders due toThe Colony being a start-up company, the stage where the company requires high funding and has limited access to banking. For the first year, The Colony will use the capital injection from its founders with amount of Rp 6,000,000,000. The company is confident to have an IRR of 9.76% to its shareholders with Cost of Equity 9.19%, and Discounted Payback period for approximately 8 years. With the Net Present Value of Rp 638 million, The Colony is a lucrative business opportunity that is worth pursuing.
