Abstract
LED is a breakthrough technology in industrial lamps with tons of advantages compared to conventional lamps. It is unfortunate that the existence of LED lamps has yet to be widely accepted by Indonesians, especially by those who live in rural areas. With such high cost, a strong resistance will show up in adopting this technology. Starting from those strong consumers resistance, the author developed a series of Rafflesia projects as a pilot project that brings the concept of Triple Bottom Line. This concept gives a clue on how to build business sustainability, including the aspect of People, Planet, and Profit. For the people and the planet aspect, Rafflesia Project give education through dissemination of the importance of electricity savings to majority villager who do not care about the issue of global warming. In addition, conversion of conventional lamps to LED lamps is influential to the decrease of electricity consumption. It is also needless to say that the profit aspect is inseparable from Rafflesia Project to generate LED sales to 800 units, by using cost ratio as big as 27% of sales. If this project is compared to the previous promotion, which generates sales to Rp 19.258.800 with cost of Rp 21.000.000, the Rafflesia Project certainly worth more value to the company. Generally, the mechanism of Rafflesia Project is appointing Sumber Bening village as an LED Philips Village. Afterwards, as the company’s extension in the local village, Philips will promote Khaidir Store to be LEDMO (LED Mini Toko) Philips. The essence of this project is to provide incentives in the form of credits, subsidies, and other bonuses to villager, in order to suppress resistance factors in adopting the LED therefore they are willing and able to buy Philips LED lamps. The Rafflesia Project also applies more interactive and creative socialization media in conveying the benefit of LED lamps and the importance of saving electrical energy. Not only that, to attract the attention of the public, the Rafflesia Project will also give Philips LED lamps for free to be used at the public facilities as a form of Philips’s Corporate Social Responsibility. As a project leader, the author feels confident that Rafflesia Project can be well applied, since the existence of this project does not only provide benefits to locals, but also saving the Mother Earth from the greenhouse effect, which in line with Philips Corporate’s mission. Moreover, this project is figured to generate significant LED sales. If the project is applied nationally, it definitely will bring a good economic profit for Best Partner and Philips in achieving business sustainability.
